Technology often has a serving role as a (certain) sub function in the product, put away behind closed housings. By getting them out of this functional role and placed into a serving context to the technology we see them in their full glory!

The limited intensity and color spectrum made the technology a servant for life. Only a context as thin as the light source itself would show us the essence of this beautiful light source.

Coens first presented these lighting leaves in real trees, and translated these installation into an interior object. The result is a cropped version of the tree; The base, branches an leaves represent its key elements. The wires that power the leaves are strengthened into bendable branches which change the appearance of the lamp.
